Terry’s Story – A Pharmaxo Healthcare Patient

“I’ve just carried on living the same life that I did before the treatment.”

Discover Terry’s treatment journey and see how his positive outlook on life continues to shine through.

Tennis & Music

Terry’s love for tennis began with a cheap old racket and a local tennis club. What started as a pastime evolved into a lifelong passion, including playing league tennis, coaching, and running groups at the club. Despite his diagnosis, Terry never let cancer slow him down.

“I’ve been playing tennis since I was 28 years old and coaching for over 20 years,” Terry shared. “If the weather is dry, I’ll always be out playing on the courts. Even after treatment in the morning, I’d be back playing that same afternoon.”

Terry also cherishes his extensive music collection, finding solace and relaxation in the familiarity of putting on an album.

“Music has always been a part of my life,” he said. “There’s something special about the feel and ritual of listening to music, whether it’s vinyl, cassettes, or CDs.”

Life, on his terms.

The flexibility of homecare meant Terry could continue living life on his terms. Whether playing tennis, spending time with his wife, or enjoying his music, his life largely remained the same despite his diagnosis.

After initially undergoing four months of immunotherapy at the hospital, Terry transitioned to a single-drug treatment every four weeks at home. In 2022, he participated in a clinical trial, which required pausing his homecare for a year.

Unfortunately, his cancer returned, and he resumed immunotherapy. When Pharmaxo called to offer him the option to restart home treatment, Terry didn’t hesitate.

“I was on the tennis court when I got the call,” Terry recalled. “I said ‘absolutely’ and had a burst of energy that day, playing some of my best tennis.”
